Potassium

Fee-fie-fo-fum, Here comes Potassium
Previously known as kalium
It was found in the 18th century.

Soft, silver hued metal that turns white in the air
It reacts violently with water, So take care!
Often stored under inert mediums such as kerosene.

In detergents, drain cleaners and soaps
Also in bananas, grapefruits, and potatoes
Even used in respiratory equipment and glass.

Mined in California, Germany, and more
You can even buy supplements from a store
So get some Potassium, Its ahead of the class.
By Kimber Smith

Potassium

You are an alkali metal
You are very healthy
And essential to life.
Humans eat you in potatoes and bananas.
You are the second least dense metal (after Lithium)
And you must be kept away from air to prevent disintegration.
You react violently with water.
You burn a purple flame.
Some of your ions taste sweet
But others taste bitter and salty.
Kazakhstan is number one exporter of potassium
Other countries have inferior potassium.
By Zach Ellin

Potassium has the symbol of K.

Its atomic number is 19 today.

Found in a compound; that’s how it got its fame.

The word “potash” is where it got its name.

Alkali Metals is the group it belongs to.

It looks soft, silvery-white, and metallic like new.

Potassium and Sodium are chemically similar.

Very Reactive, so it oxidizes quickly in the air.

Sir Humphrey Davy discovered this element.

Who knew that muscle cramps it would soon prevent.

If you don’t have any Potassium just laying around,

Eat a banana, that’s where it can be found.
By Kaleigh Mueller

This is a little rhyme I made a few minutes ago,
About Potassium you dont know
Created by the master Sir Humphery Davy.
With lots of things you really need to know,
so talk to me later about this little rhyme.
By Jermaine

POTASSIUM

Silvery-White metal
Like putty
Like wax
It’s so soft it can be cut with a knife
Don’t mix me with water
Or I will go crazy on you
Many farmers like me
Seeing as how I’m used for fertilizer
I’d like to thank Sir humphry davy
For finding me in 1807
Wonder where I got my name
It originated from the word “potash”.
If you want to find me
Then look in the free state of nature

Potassium is symbol K.
About 39 it weigh.
It is an alkali.
Without potassium plants will die.
Potassium is needed in a human’s diet.
Mostly all kinds of foods have some potassium in it.
Soap companies, glass-makers, and even CVS Pharmacy adore him.
The greatest use of potassium is in the use of fertilizer.
Discovered by Sir Humphrey Davy in 1807.
It is the color of silvery-white.
Potassium is found in sylvite and carnallite.
It was first found in potash.
Potassium can be used to make a match.
Its relaxes when with argon or any type of mineral oil.
It helps to make up our world’s soil.
By Jackie Mendoza

opening the jar of oil,
inside, the grimy chunks of foil
are waiting to be levered out
and wiped with tissue, then no doubt
cut up into some smaller bits,
and while we all collapse in fits
of laughter, chuck them down the drain
and turn the tap on, once again
achieving chemistry’s real goal,
a bang, some smoke, a gaping hole …

haiku#2

Found in bananas
And in chemistry books too
Ever practical
