Holmium, Most Nobel of Elements

Surely to be locked in everyone's memory
Being as you are, named for your ingenious discoverer.
Your dull blue color remniscent of the ocean
From whence you are always stolen.

We wrench you to dry land and use and abuse you:
Melted for monitors, you help feed our minds.
Ignited in engines, scorched so we can soar
Wrapped around rubies, you make us feel rich.

But crushed up in cakes,
You store your strength.
Bathed in bismuth
To keep you at bay.

Far below ground you lie subtly in wait
For the single spark we give you
Then, sudden revenge!
You destroy all!

It's silvery white,
a rare earth metal found in minerals like monazite and gadolinite
my symbol is ho atomic number 67, and protons and electrons too
my atomic mass is 165 amu
