Ready... set... go…
It’s off to the races
If you try to keep up
You’ll see what the pace is
Is it… “Secret Admirer” or
“Kindness is My Only Curse”
Which one is better
And which one is worst
That’s not what it’s all about
Which is worst… Which is best
It’s the quickest on the draw
Like in the old wild west
If you are busy
And even if you’re sick
You always find time
To point and click
The populous has spoken
It’s a two poem race
Even Walt Whitman
Is behind in the chase
Over 20,000 poems
In the Showcase site
On your very first day
Something wasn’t right
Over twenty six hundred
Hits in twenty three hours
There was no time to eat
No time for a shower
No comments from your fans???
And why do you have blisters
On your index finger...
We're not buying it MISTER
Oh soon …. Very soon
You will disappear
Don’t look now… But…
Ron’s coming up your rear
So when you are swimming
In his “Harbor of Resentment”
Will you have a conscious
Or any anti-sentiments

A mystery person
Has something to say

I am new here thank you for bringing this to my attention. Wow. Does this really happen here? I would not think anyone would deceitfully do this to readers and poets. Aren't we all here to just get read? I would hope that all the sites I post on would have a better system.

You are right
You are right Mr. Nixon... This not one of my better poems and it is sad that i felt vindicated to write it and actually submit it ... I did not want to ... but I showed it to a few friends and they pleaded with me to submit it... The only reason that I am doing this is that I feel that Showcase has some incredibly talented poets that are being misrepresented by the two kids at the top... So I am risking my reputation to expose them... I feel like it was the right thing to do ... I noticed that we share some of the same buddies ... You may want to talk to some of them about this issue as I know that i am not alone in this venture... I'm' sure some of them will speak in my support of this "ridiculous" and childish issue. On another note ... Are you related to Richard Nixon? You know the one that said, "I am not a crook!" If you are that has no bearing on you as an individual ... I was just curious!

how can an individual be proud of their work with what they're up to...its just sad to think people would actually sit there and click repeatedly on their work, attention seeking is one thing, but c'mon, it's just so obvious....good write there, I dunno if I would have mentioned names mind you, but we all know who the culprits are anyway.

Hey Ray,
I am so glad that you had the nerve and backbone to post this. I had noticed this many months ago and pointed it out only to be told to mind my own business. I had a poem posted “The Last Chance Hotel” at the very same time that these other two poems where first posted. The hits to them were ridiculous. I did not want to have my write associated or tainted by such obvious self-promotion so I deleted my own poem and re-posted it again at a later date. My recent poem “Harbor of Resentment” has gotten a lot of attention but I would like to think because One: I go out of my way to comment on other persons poems and they reciprocate and Two: I think it is a very good poem (hey I can plug my own work hahahahah). Bottom line I have seen outrageous hits on poems, mine included. I don’t know if there are people out there with nothing better to do then click away on poems. Maybe they think they are doing that poet a favor, I don’t know? What I am going to do and I ask everyone on the Showcase to do the same is email and ask the moderators to limit original poets from clicking on their own work and also limit multiple clicking on any one poem per ever time you logon. Everyone likes to get recognition but these top two poems are just a shameful demonstration of self promotion. Ray you the man !!!!

I will then just have to lead by example. honesty and integrity is the issue here. I have a creed I have come to live by " To thine own self be true".
I don't know what the weather is there in Florida but it is very windy here on Long Island.Tree branch's have been broken off and litter the streets. One person has died as result of a tree falling on his car while he was in it. With that in mind I have gone "Out on the Limb" and did some pruning.

great fan of that; really cant see what all the fuss is about here.
If what your claiming is true about these people, then why do the same?

I know Debs... We have ignored it for 8 months now...I have made myself look like an immature idiot... I knew that my image would\d be tarnished going in and I really had second thoughts about doing it... I will probably pull all my poems and leave this website soon! The reason I decided to go through with this is because I saw no end in sight and it has recently escalated to time warp pace... I felt like it was an injustice to all the actually talented writers here and it is a gross misrepresentation of what we have to offer here at the "Showcase"! I do understand that when outsiders and potential newcomers see this they may be turned off immediately ... but I think this will just be temporary and in the end we will be rid of LowLifeDancer... If not he will at least be exposed to everyone as a con artist... not a word artist! I'm not doing this for any reason except to help all the truly talented writers here that may otherwise be over looked and again ... it will in fact tarnish my image so I have nothing personal to gain out of this... Also I am not the only one that feels that this we needed to do this and I would not have done it without the support of the "Secret Poet Society" But I do understand your view and respect that ... I may have felt the exact same way as you do had I not have done this and I had been very peaceful with the charades for over 7 months! I don't know for sure what the percentages are ... but there are probably 50 percent of the people here that feel like you do and about 50 percent that are glad that I did this, however there is probably less than one percent that feel that what he was doing was right.. I have no problems sleeping with my decision!

I want to clear up one thing... You said "People"... I am only claiming that LowLifeDancer is doing... He came in brand new on June 2nd and posted the first of his 7 poems and it went to the number one spot in the first day (this is a fact that several people can attest to) ... I assume he was the one that did that and I think it is a very strong assumption! ... A mystery person ...it may have been Neo's missing cat ...started hitting Superflysquirell's poem to offset his number one position! ... So LowLifedancer is the only one that I am pointing the finger at!

I'm new on this site and don't really know what's going on, but clicking your own work over and over is stupid and immature. Respect comes from honesty and it is highly valued. Likewise, dishonesty and deceit show much disrespect. I'm only 17 and I can see that these stupid people are disrespecting all of us honest poets that are just trying to express ourselves freely. This site is full of talent, and these punks are cramping our style and corrupting the truth of our words.
