Music to My Ears (formerly A Familiar Tune)
Music to My Ears (formerly A Familiar Tune)
Auntie’s sleeping in the sandbox
where stray tabbies come to squat.
She’s high on an invitation to
swim out to the yacht
of a lawyer who’s perfecting ways
to bury her in trust
and I’m thinking maybe yesterday is going to be a bust.
Egg bay is slick with floaters,
drifting dead beneath the moon
that lights up the humping ass sets
on the beach near the lagoon,
while the police are all busy
counting bags of angel dust
and I’m thinking maybe yesterday is going to be a bust.
Now Angelo and Bobby know
what Auntie won’t tell you,
there’s heroin in chivalry,
some bullshit in there too,
there is lies ‘can make things happen
and lies can make things rust
and I’m thinking maybe yesterday is going to be a bust.
Last evening I went home happy,
Auntie let me read her Will;
when she dies I get the Caddie
and the Mansion on the hill,
but I just found out this evening that
she’s weaker than her lust
and I’m thinking maybe yesterday is going to be a bust.
