Trapped!

Much like a peanut butter sandwich
Love sticks, and causes a choke
Washed down with a glass of milk
The next bite does the same thing

He’s in the dark, a man with no clue
How can anything so seemingly nice
Push a panic button in the heart
Run! Run! As fast as you can
It’s the cry of a brain now on hold

Succumbed to the smell of Chanel No. 5
Shivers induced by silky-soft hair
Eyes glazed like an iced up windshield
Words drip from a mumbled mouth;
Love? This is love? By who’s definition?
He feels like his breath has been stolen

Then wedded bliss, and the ‘I do’ kiss
Familiarity breeds contempt, I fear
She hollers at him, and he yells back
The door slams shut as he goes for a beer
She calls her mother to cry in mom’s ear
And if it’s all the same to you…
I believe I’ll just stay single this year!
