music in the night

in the thick of the night
i raise my tambourine high
as i stand over the lake
and watch the wisdom
of the waxing moon
as it is reflected down
upon the water
so rippling
and so intense
as the wind catches
its whiteness
and its perfect
crescent shape

and i shake my tambourine
into the precious wind
and i watch the sylphs fly through it
as it jingles and it jangles
a slow and meloncholy tune
and they sing along
to the melodic rythm
of the night, the lake
and all contained therin
so captivated by the spell
of the energy of the movement

and i hum right along
as the wind sweeps through
my long and flowing white hair
and i close my eyes
and i imagine the water
rising over me
and the mermaids
all coming forth to greet me
with baskets full
of the many hidden treasures
of the watery depths
and i drink them in
and i wave my arms
across the water
and i splash them into
the air
and i watch all the drops
glisten as they are captured
by the light of the mother moon

and my eyes re-open
and the elves are dancing
at my feet
forming a circle
around me
laughing and playing
and smiling
so entranced by the ringing
of my tambourine
and i swoop it around
through the whistling wind
and they gasp and
they giggle
and they clap
their little hands
and they grab ahold of my hands
and they lead me into
an open field of tall
tickling grass
ready to accompany me
so in tune to
the many beats
of the night
the chirping of the crickets
the croaking of frogs
the owls with
their very deep and
pronounced little hoots

and we build our fire in the clearing
and we raise our arms to the sky
and sing at the top of our lungs
in honor of all that there is
that makes the world
just so spectacular
the sounds
the sights
the smells
of nature
at night
the glow of a quiet half-moon
the world is our party tonight
and we're ready to play
and we do
all night long
dancing, singing, carrying on
celebrating life's many delights
lifting a glass in cheer
of all that is
all that has been
and all that will be
bringing all of our energy
together
to truly come alive

A beautiful post

Wow Mark, I read this and just for a second closed my eyes and felt myself in this peaceful place, would it not be nice if life could be like this everyday? Thanks for the post-Lee
