the big gold and red trees
and talk of hobgoblins
in the chill of fall freeze
tell of tales of horror
of screams and hollow pleas
the monster starts running
whilst the heroine flees!

oh lets sip our cider
yeah let's toast to the night
and hunt down all the ghosts
that bring us so much fright
we'll invade the darkness
with a glowing red light
then howl when they come forth
grab our hearts hold on tight!

the dark night it holds us
in a magical spell
the blackness it hides us
from a most fearsome yell
the crying of sirens
the ring of one lone bell
mayhem and mystery
no one could foretell!

and we build a big fire
to ward off all the wrong
we chant some and then hum
this one halloween song
protect us and guide us
through such nights cold and long
and warm us in comfort
and then keep us all strong!

it plays on in our head
long after we've gone home
all snug safe in our bed
the night is a creature
of such madness and dread
but home is our haven
where our peace is well fed!
