there's a shadow of something
somewhere way before me
i can barely make it out
thanks to a mere trickle of light
that is dancing around the darkness
someone is here with me
...in this very room
but they won't speak
and they won't show their face
but their presence is very very real
whomever "they" may be
are they watching me
with night vision eyes?
following my each and every move
just waiting for the perfect time to POUNCE!
like a cat or something...playing with its prey
it's very very unnerving
and the air conditioning isn't working
for all the power is out
and i'm stuck here in almost total darkness
in a very very hot room in the middle of the night
but there is this chill, though, running up my spine
and i think i just saw movement past the window
dodging the light...what does it want?
is it a person? a prowler perhaps?
looking to rob me and take me
for all i'm worth...wouldn't get much there...
maybe it's someone who thinks that i've done them wrong
maybe it's some kind of animal
some kind of rabid animal looking to take out
all of its frutrations on a defenseless human
or maybe it's a hungry animal...looking at me
as if i am tonight's entree...licking their chops
just waiting to take that big BITE!
or maybe it's a hungry human...a cannibal
looking at me and wondering...
what wine would go best with such
a pudgy little fellow such as myself?
maybe a murderer...somebody who thinks i've wronged them
from so long ago...only now seeking their ultimate revenge on me
they'll slit my throat in the dark they will i just know it!
or maybe it's a ghost bringing some horrid message
from the other side...do i hear moaning?
it moved! i felt a breeze pass across my face
and i think i heard breathing
heavy OMINOUS breathing...
let me feel around the dark room just a bit
see if i can find a golf club or baseball bat or something
i know there's something around here somewhere
that i can use as a weapon...
