pockets and dreams
carefully
i open
that big creaky
closet door
which holds
all my dreams
stuffed in there
like so many sardines
in a little tin can
good thing they
aren't sardines
they might smell by now!
anyway
i look in the closet
all the shelves
all the dreams
nestled quietly
resting i guess
and i then inspect
what i am wearing
those big green
wacky overalls
with all the
many many
crazy pockets
and i know what
i have to do
so i start
stuffing all those
dreams into
my pockets
dreams of
horses and cowboys
and cookies
and puppy dogs
mothers and fathers
children
ostriches
suns and moons
and pink clouds
that rain
pink lemonade
that tastes so
yummy sweet
there's men in there
and women
smiling people
always happy to see me
to hug me or
just shake my hand
and there's bicycle horns
and petunias
and yellow wild
flowers growing out
of the cracks
in the walls
(it's an old closet)
there's slip and slides
and hot summer days
and music from
the ice cream trucks
just a-floating around
dancing bears
with big crazy hats
and little blue boots
and baby giggles
and duck quacks
and look way
high up on
the top shelf
that's where the
faeries play
flitting about
and toasting
little marshmallows
with a butane lighter
the elves they stay
close to the floor
where they can
tuck themselves in
to my big red
sneakers
and it's all there
and it all makes me smile
as i take them off the
shelf and start
stuffing them
into my many
many pockets
pockets of all
shapes and sizes
and hues
the many many colors
of green
the shades of my dreams
a little dream goes here
a big one goes there
and all those
dreams that are in between
in they go!
and then i close
the big closet door
and i try to walk
expecting to be
weighed down
by the heaviness
of all my dreams
but instead
i float!
high up near
the ceiling
better watch out
for the celing fans!
and i keep floating
to the window and
out the window
and up up up
into the puffy
sugary clouds i fly
look at me!
i'm a balloon!
and i look down
at my sleepy town
as i'm buoyed
way up here
by the power
of my dreams
and i finally
realize something
very very
important
about my
little life
dreams they
aren't for closets no
dreams are meant to soar!

Lighthearted fun, I really enjoyed your images. Hopeful. Just wonderful, thanks for sharing this one. raskin
Thank you very much for reading this!
Sometimes I like to turn my mind off and just let the imagination flow...it's always a wild ride!
Take care,
Mark
imagination
You've got some great imagination, Mark. You could write great children's books, I bet.
Thanks dude...
This one could probably very easily be a kids book...I don't think I've dropped any f-bombs anywhere...and there's no gay sex! That's unusual!
Seriously, though, I have been thinking a lot lately about trying to get a kid's book published. It could be a whole new career for me which could be very nice!
Thanks for the comments!
Take care,
Mark
