ah yes
looking back
not always the smartest move
when all roads point forward
but sometimes reflecting
makes me feel safe
and hey...
maybe even just a little bit
accomplished!
all those things I have done
all those many many people who have walked in
and out of my life
(missing some, others...good riddance)
and all those turning points
those definitve moments
where I knew
from here on out
life would never be the same
some of them sad
some celebrations
such is the way that it is
when you live the picture
on a Hallmark card
and you mark your days
by people places things
so many things!
and so many people
some right in the next room
some lost forever
at least on this plane
and the places
oh the places
the cornfields
the cities
the ocean
that i moved here
to look into
today i make another turn
from something so familiar
so dear and so yet so disturbing
that it needs to be left behind
and it will be hard
but it will be done
it has to be
for the road ahead
it is a wide one
and it needs to be traveled well
into so many new adventures
so many new places
so many new experiences
they say that change
is the only constant
so why not embrace it
to change i make a toast
and to looking back
because memories,
good or bad
are our greatest guide
into the new awareness!
