i felt you pass through my soul
was a night
just a night
nothing special
late autumn
and i found myself
walking
in the old neighborhood
where we once had a home
and our house stands before me
empty now with the door wide open
some say it's haunted
but i don't know
i'll believe it when i see it
so i walk inside
and immediately memories
of you flood into my mind
from all angles
of the happiness
we used to share in this house
way back when
and a tear hits my eye
as i look around at the walls
the floors...cielings
with angels painted on them
and i close my eyes
and i envision you before me
as an angel now
careesing my face
kissing me so sweetly
placing my face in your hands
and telling me
everything is all right
i've missed you so
it's been way too long
and coming back here to this place
it brings it all back
oh the fun we used to have here
the games we used to play
the parties we had
the quiet times
for deep reflection
we shared it all
and i open my eyes
and i see you there
at the top of the dark stairwell
amidst the cobwebs and dirt
smiling at me
like no time had passed at all
and i watch as you
slowly glide down the stairs
and stand before me
you reach out with a faint finger
to catch my teardrop
and you giggle a bit
and then you walk right through me
and i feel you so strong inside
every essence of your being
it floods over me in that split second
of a mere moment
at first i am afraid
but then i feel warm...and calm
and at home...
for i see we have once again connected
never to be torn apart
and now the house once more stands empty
as i emerge into the leaf-littered streets
with the renewed spirit of all that is you inside me
i was once very afraid
but now i know that we'll be all right
i felt you pass through my soul.

ghosts of the past
I got some of those, too. Really like your reflection in this one.
thank you...
i was watching the movie "poltergeist" the other night on tv and the mother said something about her daughter passing through her soul...i kinda liked that imagery. That's where this poem came from...
Take care,
Mark
Places
Movie or not, it is amazing how places visited from our past create a momentary reality all their own, so close yet so far. Enjoyed (I think) it's haunting-ness.

cool.
I'm very glad you liked it! You're right...that happens to me all the time when I visit places and I definitely believe in ghosts.
Thank you for your comment!
Take care,
Mark
