a fairy tale dream

you prick your finger
on the spindle
as Maleficent promised
so very long ago

and you sleeeeeeep
so deeply
so completely
so comfortably

until your eyes open
and you find yourself
floating amidst a clear sticky goo
and you look around

and you see before you
everything that you are
everything that you were
everything that you will be

and it's all wrapped up
in human form
the shape of a naked man
who's floating just before you

and you take your hand
and you touch the skin
on his broad shoulder
and it is warm

and it excites you
and you take your finger
and you draw a line
from his shoulder to his neck

you gently nudge him on the chin
the stubble tickling your fingers
and he grins and his eyes
open wide to an inner light

that glows so softly
through the thickness
of the gelatinous goo
a summer green

and you grab his big
wide comfortable hand
and together you swim
into a new dimension

a salt water heaven
on the crest of a wave
of a mighty ocean
never before swam

and dolphins, whales
and turtles all swirl around
as you grab him
and dance the dance

that only enchantment reveals
the music plays ever so softly
in the caverns in your head
as you kiss him gently at first

somewhere on the neck
and he wraps his arms around you
and you soar through
the ocean depths

and you rise to greet the sun
the heat beating down on golden hair
drying you and guiding you
to island of stolen dreams

and upon the beach you rest
and cling to him in slumber
your dream within the dream
so many layers yet to be peeled

but no...not now
now is just to be
nestled within the safety and serentiy
of the man and your dreams

and you sigh
and he laughs
and you hum a simple song
and he sings to you

with words only spoken
within the realm of silence
the quietness of your life
when you felt him

even though you didn't even know him
it was so very long ago
and he had no face or body or voice
and yet he carried you

and now here you are
nestled against his warmth
feeding off the flames of passion
and drinking in his eyes

and your eyes grow weary
as a flurry of sleep approaches
and you nod off ever so safely
into his strong muscular arms

you awake to a kiss
tender sweet and surprising
the face of a prince before you
tells you that you're now home

and your happiest ending
of all happy endings
has finally come true
the fairy tale complete

you stick the ribbon on the page
and close the big book gently
and place it back on
the splintered oaken shelf

you take off your glasses
and return to your seat
you feet can barely walk now
but your eyes...

oh how they dance!
