My Tomorrow

Tomorrow I will go back to making coffee,
In a green shirt with brown pants,
That have counterfeit pockets.
Today I had a job interview,
At an ad agency downtown.
I had a shot at grabbing the bottom rung,
At sitting behind the desk at the front door,
Directing clients to art directors.
They said they were thinking of taking a chance,
So many said: maybe we'll take a chance,
What they don't understand is that when they don't,
How far the fall is when that bottom rung breaks.
When the hope of being something more,
Than a coffee monkey, fades.
Tomorrow I will go back to serving doughnuts,
In a green shirt with brown pants.
And maybe this time I won't try for more,
Try to use my advertising diploma,
Try to show my potential and my passion.
Tomorrow I will try to forget today.
I will fake a smile as I hand you your cup,
And lie if you ask how I am,
Saying: I'm good, thanks and you?

Great

Great, honest, heart rendering poem. ...I think we place alot of emphisis on our dreams/desires
but at the same time it is a part of our nature to want to reach our potential and so must be determined and accepting of life's knock backs.
