Crumbling Knees

Sitting burning desire
Tempting sin
Defying the wise
We burn, the fools

Why do we kill your grace
Why can’t we say no
Why can’t we see your face
Why don’t we just say no

Offered paradise of plains, mountains,
Valleys of rivers running life
We chose to walk orchards of “knowledge,”
Deceptive, branches twisting death

Our fruit is rot,
Fallen from branches
The life gone to weeds
Shriveled and dry
Blown ‘way like dust to the sky

Why do we kill your grace
Why can’t we say no
Why can’t we see your face
Why don’t we just say no

On crumbling knees I fall
Scorched eyes to the sky
Let my hollow lungs cry
I want you to take it all
I surrender to your will
I don’t want to die

I finally feel your grace
I said yes
I finally see your face
I finally said yes
