Rainy Days/ My Adult View
I woke up today, gave a stretch and a yawn, and what did my eyes spy?
Dark grayish clouds, a constant wind blows, and the rain falling down from the sky.
Once long ago, back when I was young, the rain opened up all new games
Now when it's seen, a deep sigh can be heard, for it now only causes me pain.
My joints swell up big, my bones aching bad, and each step is another new test
I'm secretly wishing, I'd never woke up, stay in bed I think would be best.
Alas that can't be, for my children need me, so I get up and push through my woe
Get them up, make the beds, make them wash, get them fed... now it's off to school they go.
Some have to travel, in all of this mess, just to work and make ends meet
a sea of umbrella's, cars honking their horns, all avoiding the lakes in the street.
I find them real lucky, they may not agree, but of course opinions all differ
I wish for their health, to have pep in my step, but with each drop I only get stiffer.
