Interminable Sleep
Sleep, you are there every night
To watch me sucuumb to darkness
And make me weak, of course
I enjoy your presence,
You make me feel strong again,
But before long...
The moments pass me by in your care.
The moments we share
Are but bittersweet songs
That induce a drowsy fog,
Invite the dark, and soften my heart.
I realize you are only a nightmare,
As you hypnotize witha subtle lullaby
I race within my mind, summon might,
And open my eyes-
But my reality has already died.
Abducted, I stand within this realm
As a prisoner within a cell,
Here there is only Now, no plans,
Only many men showcasing and defining "Man"
"To Hell with the future, it is always obscure
Anyhow, anywhy, anywhen, anywhat, anywho
The world cares not the slightest for you.
You are not Christ, you are not God.
You are not special. you, as I, live in extreme peril."
I hear sleep utter these words, and they subdue me
"Afterall, in my dreams, I live the bliss of never dying.
Afterall, the blessings and curses, reality is still confusing."
I intone these words, and carve them into the world,
To be empathed at my eulogy.
