Derisive distance

Still went the second
as the moment struck
a puzzled pose

the air stiffened,
the earth braced
itself
your domino crinkled

but the sky,
the sky knew

Is it a crime
to try and climb
into its
solitary refuge?

That angelic
space up there
above us all,
that divine mind

denies us all
it lives there
and we live here;

what more evidence
do you need?
You can pretend
like you don't see
the truth

still

I wouldn't say
its your youth thats running away
with you,
I'd say, your running away
with your youth

Back to the stiff moment,
where the stale air and hard ground
impetuously await your fall

I see you dangling

but I'm standing safely far away
from that edge,

I told you it's perilous, I told you...
