Repeating Itself

And He cried when He found His Child had died
When He realized His Son was crucified
His curse rolled over sea and land
This God who wanted to be a man

The sky split open and dim grew the sun
The bells that sounded were heaven rung
Oh, my children, what have you done,
Is this the way you would treat the One?

My only Son I have given to you
A gift from the One who sees you through
And though He knew of His Son's fate
Just the feeling of his grief was great

Why, towards us, does He feel such love?
This man, this God, this peaceful dove
We, who caused him to feel such pain
And, He, who knows we'd do it again
