Almost Human

We danced in fields of soft delight
We laughed at things as others might
We enjoyed the world, we did not defile
And we were normal for a while
Do you remeber her golden hair,
or her clean, unwavering stare?
Sister, sister did you not hear?
She is gone, she is not near
We jumped the limit, flew to the moon
We lay on blankets of grass at noon
We spoke of things we'd never seen
And we had fun though sometimes mean
But she has gone and so has fun
She has left and so's the sun
Now the trio's just down to us
The three Musketeers have missed the bus
We keep the memory proud and brave
The sharper edges we tend to shave
We dance to the beat of life's sweet song
Just the three of us though one's gone
We keep her memory in mind's file
And she remains human for a while

exceptionally well written piece...

This is a poem which shows incredible talent, and written with flair
and meaningful imagery! I have a sister I met as a teen, I think
she was trying to be my teacher, or guide, but she hurt my feelings,
yet it was unintentional I think... Your poem reminds me of her
though I never knew her from childhood! It's a poem about
early life and how people who love each other grow and learn!
Great word choices give this piece meaning and joy! Though,
I haven't seen my sister in quite a lot of years, I do believe
she is still living! Your poem, though not about my sister,
reminds me of the relationship all siblings share. It has
universal appeal and I must say it is above the rest in
phrasing, imagery, and message!

Thanks

Thanks so much to oldaspirationsneverdie...7
for your very kind comments!

I live in my own little world, but it's all right they know me there.
