Abecedarian Immortality (Spenserian).
Poem Title : (Abecedarian) Immortality 079
Written 25/04/2009
An exercise to pay homage to a few Poets,
Because of the nature of listings descent,
Can show favour with the rhythmic couplets,
Divided into three Spenserian groupings,
Each Stanza the discipline of triplicate rhyming,
Following ababbcbcb,I am trying?
Good ,Bad or Ugly ten syllables chiming,
Have thirteen at sixes and sevens end lining.
I shall next escort you to the second of three,
Just stay with me now! It will not take a minute.
Knowledge Poets now beckon to me,
Look ! Chaucer, Shakespeare, Spenser begin it,
Many like Dryden,Pope,Swift ,Jonson, Bennett.
Name-less to some folk, which seems very tragic.
Of course this list has a restrictive limit .
Poets are oft` seen performing such magic.
Quick ! Longfellows here wearing sack-cloth and ashes.
Rudyard,Rupert, Rossetti and Ruskin.
Sophocles, Suetonius stand chatting in Greek.
Tacitus , Tennyson and John Tobin
Unless very mistaken? I`m becoming a Geek.
Very many have tried only glory they seek,
Wordsworth, Wilde and Walt Whitman in perfect harmony.
Xanadu the one place to visit each week,
Young Poets of Olde share brief immortality.
Zoological Species? Or some un-natural freak !
