I want the Truth
Lies lies ande nothing but, My mind is racing, my soul is stuck.
When I try to please all those around me, I put on a mask which makes it hard to see..
I rip apart the issues, leave them in shreds upon the floor.
But when I seek to rid myself of this, I'm left with nothing more.
A circle, a spiral, a never ending maze.
Left within madness, a paradox haze,
Trying to be tame is all thats left of reason,
Until the substance comes together, I shall fight this unseen treason.
I want the truth,
no more lies,
I want the truth behind the eyes.
The vigor, the passion, the honesty of spirit.
I've held on to it so hard, that now I often fear it.
So come together one more time so I may continue on.
To see the truth, yet behind the line, until the day I'm gone.

Some say poetry should be
Some say poetry should be less introspective and more observatory, or universal, but to me poetry is most striking when one can emote to a great extent under its form. It's like a distillation of the heart. I think you accomplished that here. “I want the truth behind the eyes” created the emotional crux of the poem and was placed so intelligently. I really like your poetic style.
