The Cost
You sit there telling me the stories
Of your drunken escapades
Glorifying your bad behaviour
Do you expect me to be jealous?
Do you expect me to be happy for you?
I sit here watching you throw your life away
Watch you reach for the bottle
Watch you head to the party
Don’t you realize what it is costing you ?
Who is going to be there for you ?
When your grades continue to go to shit
And when you run out of the money
Your hard-earned tuition
That you are wasting on booze and joints
It can’t be me
Do you remember all those nights?
When we would be at a party and I would stand there
Covered in your puke, holding your hair back as you were sick
When I would bring you coffee in the morning
because you were too hung-over to move
or when I would stop you from making a drunken- fool of yourself
because I knew you would regret it in the morning
But I am not there beside you now
I can’t be there beside you anymore
And watch you throw away your life for a high that doesn’t even feel good anymore
Who is going to take care of you when you don’t even care about yourself
It has cost you your grades, it has cost you your money
Don’t let it cost you our friendship
Don’t let it cost you your life
