love blanket

The pebbles are jabbing into the soles of my feet
The blood is flowing, draping itself across the sand
Like the blanket that once housed our love, was set across the grass
I do not feel the pain inside me
Or perhaps I welcome it
Drawing the pain towards me, so it remains a companion on my journey
I am running
Running towards you
Though you have left me
I am running back in time
To when you pulled me near
To when I could breathe without breaking
The waves are crashing against the shore
Twisting and jarring on the keen rocks
Emulating the heart which is barely breathing
The heart that is running towards blankness
Without you and our old blanket
Running as it gets torn from the pebbles
What I have given up for that blanket
