I used to be afraid of being alone
I saw the way that loneliness could take someone over
I saw how it was big and dark
And how , like the ocean, you could drown in it
But lately everyone that I know has been leaving
And I am finding myself alone
Somehow though my head remains above water
I am not sinking in the grief I once thought I would be
Instead day by day I am finding my place
Hour by hour I am finding my way
With every minute that passes I am closer to finding my self
On my own
And it is not scary
And I will not drown in it
Sure sometimes I am afraid
But I know that I can make it on my own
Loneliness is big and dark
Like the ocean you can drown in it
But loneliness and being alone are not the same thing
I am alone and finding my place
