Heart Broken
Just, the latest thing...
As my best friend
I trusted you,
I loved you,
I stood by you,
When your girlfriend treated you wrong
I was there, for you to complain to
When you needed to talk about your mom
And the horrible things she’d done
I was there, for you to complain to
We’d talk about everything
From the book you last read
To the grades we had in our classes
Or the new girl you liked…
As your girlfriend
I trusted you,
I loved you,
I stood by you,
When you needed to see me,
I’d make a special trip for you
When your mom complained about me
And how wrong we were together
I was there to listen
For years we’d spent all our time together
Talking, laughing, and crying
You were there as guys broke my heart over and over
I trusted you,
I loved you,
I stood by you,
You took my heart
I asked you to treat it carefully
You promised you would
But you took it,
Snapped it in two,
And stomped on it
I sit wondering why
I trusted you,
I loved you,
I stood by you,
I sit discouraged,
And Heart broken

yes...
yeah it really is easy when you have the feeling while writing...and you did it marvelously. it was...great. the repetition of the three lines throughout it builds up to the grimness you must have felt at the end. I only wish that the end was more forceful, more full of feeling. All you said was that you sat wondering. were you not feeling pain or resentment? I guess at the time you were still in a feeling of shock, reflecting on all the time you had with him. yeah it's great.
great line: "I asked you to treat it carefully/
You promised you would"
and this line was funny for some reason "When you needed to talk about your mom" Probably only to me, but I felt it at the same time...it's so true, that's the kind of thing a friend does.
