Relenting Darkness

I pray thee, release me from this faceless specter
And place me where I do not feel the insanity.
Evade me these thoughts so perverse and vile,
Take me away.
Carry me sweetly into the night,

Framed

A photograph lies still on the table,
depicting a memory long past.
The frame cradling a gateway to happier times,
The sepia faced photo, now ghosts of the past.

Extinguished

I was switched off like a light
To just turn and begin this new fire.
The fire inside to which I have been burnt,
Scars cover this body, aching my core,

Life and the Bottle

He gazed at his soul through his empty bottle.
He tipped it to his mouth, hoping for one last sip of serenity,
But at the bottom of that bottle he saw the death of his dreams.
