Its been a while
Used to be every Sunday

For what could impress a god?

I was sitting in the book store
In a small, blue chair
I was reading a sad story
I was completely unaware
But I felt something that made me
Lift my head up from the words

Not too long ago
I was lost in the dark
But I saw two paths
Both in my heart
They went their own way
And they were nothing the same
They ended miles apart
I could see that from the start

I was never one to plan out life,
But I never could have imagined today
I wonder why good things can't just stay,
But I guess its like they say
Everything changes...

I started out so fresh and new
So very ignorant, blind to truth
And I was happy as could be
I saw, but didn't really SEE...

I beheld the glimmer of the light
It was left and it was right

From the moment I first beheld you
I knew
Not what, why or how, but who-you
It is true; It has always been you

When I heard you speak, recite poetry
I knew

I've wasted so much time
pretending to be fine.
It was all just a lie
and the words fail me.

I spent so many years
choosing sorrow and fears
over a life of honesty
and the words fail me.

Many miles away you are
but here I am

It's been nearly six years now
And I'm still trapped in this sin
So many times I promised myself today was the end
But every time I stopped, something made me begin again

Open your eyes and take a look around
Be very quiet; Don't make a sound
See the world through brand new eyes
Stripped to the core without its disguise

Silence makes the cold turn colder
As if freezing wasn't bad enough
My heart beats slower
All passion is lost
But I trudge through
Because I must

The only light I see shines from up above

A ripple in a pond
Upsets the long stillness
Barely making a mark
Just a tiny, little breathe
A reminder of a life
Was this ever more than a stagnant pool?
Could filth have once been beauty?

She comes to me again
A whisper in my mind
A familiar face calling out to me
Pushing me toward something...
I'm searching, but I can't find it
Flipping through journals

A smiling face and wings to soar
But nowhere to go but through one of two open doors
Leading to unknowns, an impossible choice
No strength for flying, none even for voice
