You Have Wings
Summer heat cartwheels in
shed your clothes layer by layer
grass under foot
You have wings
Be still. Air is silence,
bathes your every limb
~ in ~ out ~ through ~
now
Fell it leap! as today falls under your toes
down earthy pores
and the crickets summon dusk.
Fireflies are Defiance
Piercing the shadow with their soul sparks
again and again
long after the wise old stars reveal their
command of the sky.
take it all in, everything is your gift
pain and grief are songs ready to pour
through your heart,
vibrations of the earth's core
flowing up through rock, clay, and sinew
sing so the stars can laugh with you, their own
vibrations.
even fear is love
for without the dark night could the
fireflies blaze their defiance
the stars
command?

I would really appreciate
I would really appreciate critiques! Thanks
I missed this one,
I enjoyed reading it, light airy feel to it. I like the last two stanza but the rest is good. raskin
Thanks!
Re-reading the poem, it seems pretty choppy, especially between the 3rd and fourth stanza. I'd appreciate suggestions!
