What Else Would You Call It?

You declared: “I don’t love you,”
As you demanded your divorce,
Now you say self-righteously,
You didn’t walk out on us.
I don’t know what you would name it,
But everyone else does.
To surrender and no longer try,
Is giving up on love.

We all make mistakes in life.
At least that’s what I’m told,
But how you handle it afterward,
Is what really counts the most.

I like to think that I tried my best,
To make us stronger . . . to come back as one.
But all can see that you did your best,
To keep us both apart;
By doing so, you walked out,
And threw away my love.

I can not hide the pain,
That crashed into my world.
The day you walked out,
– ripping the heart out of my chest,
Leaving it on the ground in your wake,
I don’t know anything else to call it,
You walked out on us!
