I put my whole heart into the words,
On many pages throughout the years.
Pouring everything within me,
Into letters I gave to you.

But you no longer want my love.
You turn me away as you move,
Keeping me closed off from your life,
As you look for someone else.

But the letters sent by me,
That painted a picture of my heart,
Is the one thing that you still keep.
One last piece of me.

Do you keep them
As a reminder,
Of the love I have for you?
Or is it to keep my heart hostage?
Never to be returned.

My whole heart
Is in the words
That you keep locked away.
