If we could change the course
Of where we’re going
I see now that we could never be
Like we were before.

We have gone through too much pain
To ever be the same.
There is a new you and me
Because of the mistakes I made.

Even though we’re both new;
Different from before,
Because so much water
Has passed from our shore,
Leaving us with nothing more.

But there is no reason
That can be seen,
Why we can’t chase the dream,
That we both once had,
Of living together forever more.
The chance is there that one day
All will be right,
And we will cling
To each other as lovers once more.
