Heartache wears
On another’s heart.

Someone who
Is such a big part.

Of our lives
He’s the center of our world.

But I see him hold it in
Like fat in a girdle.

The world he knows
Has been turned upside down.

He doesn’t understand
Why we can’t come around.

Did you listen
In the class,

Of yourself
Do you ask?

How this divorce
Is hard on him.

Do you see the hurt
That has been.

Heaped upon
His tender life.

Now he’s going through
So much strife.

Look more closely
At our son.

So that his pain
Can be undone.
