teenagers
dilated pupils,
like cat's eyes
but i disagree with what you've found there
a reason and excuse
a coat to pull about you,
and sensible decide to have a good time
i do decline
and, instead, will run off my mouth
in classrooms until i die
yes, yes, until i die and grow old n' cold
lips still moving feebly
"come listen to a story"

Snapshot of Lincoln
In the land of Kentucky in 1809
long before eBay and auctions online
Abraham Lincoln entered our world
with a smile on his face and his bottom lip curled
like a star from above, he was destined to shine
Over the years he acquired the looks
which set him apart from his peers in the books
that give us a glimpse into days long gone
when the hopes of a nation rested upon
the weary shoulders of a man much-maligned
who vowed to stand tall for those who'd resigned
the fate of their race, their hopes and their dreams
to men they called master. Yet he who redeems
called down to Abe Lincoln to rally the might
of those who believed in wrong versus right
and prepare to defend though darkness of nights
our forefathers' gift, our inalienable rights
so that we might bestow upon other brave souls
who have carried the burden for many a fool
down a road filled with sorrow and pain and despair
the freedoms that heal us and lead us to share
a past that still haunts us but reminds us of one
Abraham Lincoln, our favorite son.
hey
I like your style.
