On Writing Poetry
Sometimes poems show up
At my mental door fully clothed;
At other times, at the completion
Of one of those rascals,
I feel I've just run the Boston Marathon
(Or tried to).
But however writing comes -- easy, or labored--
Like it was for Flaubert (it is said)
Who took all one morning putting a comma in,
And all afternoon taking it out,
There are few things in my book
Than can compare
To a poem that is "there;"
To words that have established themselves
And there's no more to be shared
On a certain topic, insight, or conviction --
At least at that particular time and place.

~The Art of Poetry~
Sharon,
This was a wonderful insight about poetry building. It is a miracle how some words hit the page. It is a pleasure to meet you. May our poems always be "there" and "shared".
Warm regards,
Kathy Paysen
Thanks!
What a lovely comment, new friend. I'm just getting onto how things work here, and have already seen your name a lot. Can't wait to read more.
Warm regards right back to you...
Thanks for comment on "On Writing Poetry"
How nice of you to post a comment. Your free verse is not well done? I must check your poetry out thoroughly. So new here just finding out how things work.
Happy day to you,
