Rise and Set of Eternal Lovers
I am darkness.
Creeping in silently,
suffocating light
with torturous pleasure.
Watching her bleed
in shades of reds and purples.
Staining the clouds
with her pain and desperate pleas.
I enjoy her fall from grace,
weakened by my unforgiving hand.
Her eternal flame is never injured,
I can never end my lover’s life.
A vicious cycle
I find myself entangled in.
But don’t you dare pity light.
She lies in waiting,
a fiery beast in hiding,
searing the edges of my existence.
When I am unprepared,
relaxed in the coolness of my arrogance,
I can feel the pain increasing
as she crawls,
walks,
runs after my fleeting retraction.
Fading into nothingness,
with only seconds left
I ask;
who is the real monster
in this cycle of day and night?
