Yellow Roses

I met you here
In the gardens of my mind
Encouraging you to stay
And we sat for a while passing the day, the time
Willing the sun to shine upon us

Then in the midnight hours you gave
A yellow rose, so fine

It almost made me cry.

You must have learnt I thought
About the beauty
For it’s everywhere in you
And all I could ever hope to find.

They are ‘Promises’ you said
And may we live
Several long years besides them-

I am sure of it you told me
