Today I’ll Play
Today I’ll play at being great
Today I’ll play at being blithe
I’ll gather up a tramp or five
And have them round for tea and cake.
Today I’ll play at being neat
Today I’ll help both young and old
I’ll guard them from impending cold
I’ll help them cross the street.
Today I’ll play at being swell
I'll help the poor without delay
I’ll give my finest suit away
I’ll lend them boots aswell.
Today I’ll offer tea and cake!
Today I’ll climb the Empire State!
Today I’ll shine for goodness sake!
Today I’ll play at being great!

Thanks Wills, you know it was funny I was listening to this lady speak today and telling a group of us, all these good deeds that she does... I think it was the way she said it that made me feel it wasn't genuine. I don't know, but it inspired me to write this.

People always say they do
People always say they do all these things "today" but then they go back to being worthless bastards and doing nothing but consuming fast food, watching TV, littering, and wasting air. I sense a hidden sarcasm in this or maybe it's just me. Good write anyway, Debs. I like you.

I suppose if anything, its sarcastic humour really. Just my take on a society were (some) people 'Play At' rather than 'Do' good deeds. Anyways, Its not so much a moral piece, just irony here. But its interesting to see how people behave sometimes and I end up asking myself, whats in it for them?
