Sweet Morning Earth!

The morning - full of care
And filling my body with air.
Sweet morning earth!
You have yielded your kiss
Your lips - all fire
And breath of the falls.
Your ways -
An ineffable ecstasy
And my heart atilt
Towards your sky.
My weepy eyes
Are alive - upon your soil
And I think it may rain today

- I think it may rain.

This is a good one. You

This is a good one. You capture the essence of morning very well. It's such a nice time of day. And how you contrast it with the anticipation of rain is lovely. Being a morning person, I liked this a lot. Nice one, Debs.

a thoughtful appreciation!

this is a thoughtful and gentle appreciation of nature! come what may... still we are thankful!

lovely, Debs...

I love this one - so delicate and gentle. I love the last two lines, truly great!

So much with so few words

reminds me (and not in a bad way) of a song that shall remain unnamed. I'm certain this will stir many people for different reasons. Lovely timing and sentiment.

Sweet Morning Earth!

Many thanks, it's very kind of you all to take time to comment. I was thinking of what the morning/day brings, and tried to involve the four elements of Earth, Wind, Fire and water in it. I wasn't entirely sure where this would lead to, other than i wanted to make the ending quite open and free to interpretation. My own personal feelings on the ending 'I think it may rain today' was actually a suggestion of my own tears to come (leading on from weepy eyes) But tears of joy at the realisation of the beauty of the earth! I like to think that the ending two lines and the piece will mean something different to different individuals.

Hope this all makes sense to you, and kind thanks again.
