Paraffin And Stone

The streets, they smell of sorrow
All paraffin and stone
No silence shall measure its grief
Bring comfort
To its half moans, and throaty sobs
But feverish panic shall arise
When weeping hearts are drained
Tonight, the cries of mourning eyes
Returned upon the world again.

Wow Debs

You've really captured it all here in this one!!! Feels like I'm right there experiencing their grief.
What an incredible write! Just incredible!

never ending cycle

And it seems to be a never ending cycle, too. Lessons never learned from the grief... I like the contrast of the paraffin and stone and how you strung your words together here.

Indeed

As one battle stops, another begins it seems,

Thanks for your kind thoughts here friend.

As a thief

crawling, hugging buildings thru towns, down dark streets strewn with rubble and bodies. You never forget the smell of kerosene and or parrifin as assault vehicles pass slowly by, exhaust fumes hot and heavy with death. The stones of walls and streets have a stench of mold and rank decay. Like sponges they soak it in and gladly let you inhale its horrors with the sounds of blood gurgling in the throats of those poor unfortunates wishing for the gates of Hades to open and swallow them whole. Debs you said it true, there is no measure to grief. Thank you for sharing this ...
