Comfort
And I too will comfort you -
Be it brief,
Console you as I can do,
With a blanket, a handkerchief
A rare flower or two.
-Let us think no more of sadness then,
Since the end is near,
Since I am watching the sunlight this day, reappear-
Adorn you in its own way.
You yourself are searching,
For something strangely beautiful to say.

comfort
It's tough to find words for this type of situation; I find a solace, though, in these here. Beautiful writing, Debs.
solace
It is tough friend, but people never fail to surprise me,
especailly those who continue to provide comfort to others when they are the ones in question: the poorly ones. This was definately true in the case of my mother. As is this poem it was based on.
Thanks neo,

A little gem
Hi Debs,
I'm glad I came across this absolute gem of yours on this un-frequent visit of mine. This is what you are meant to write.

Such Gentle Words
Make this a comforting piece, the title suits the work perfectly!
Another beautiful write Debs, so soft and gentle. Find my eyes keep falling on the last two lines! No idea why! Perhaps they strike a chord with me subconsciously somewhwere!!
Great piece!

Coming to rest
for many is not a time of ease. To be able to provide and share "comfort" with another soul is truly a gift and a blessing for both involved. Understanding that there is not much more that can be done to prevent or even slow down the natural course of nature, "comfort" is what can be given and shared. Deb's this write is touching and needed at so many levels in my life. I thank you for sharing it ....
sincerely

Compassion,
I think if we have compassion Ron, then we have everything, we have almost overcome. Nothing can be heard so loud as love, felt, or realised anywhere,
It can always always be given and shared.
Thank You so much for such meaningful comments, friend.

Ah
I thought this was tinged with irony, but I see from the comments that it's not. Still, I really like your style.
I'm on my second read of Alice Miller's Drama, and I'd be guessing your views are at odds with hers. Reading that this is about your mother completes the picture. Yeah, I'm still mulling over this poem, not sure how I feel about its vibe, but classy writing nonetheless.
Alice Miller
Thanks friend,
I must admit I don't know a whole lot about Alice Miller, other than she was a campaigner for women's suffrage. I will need to look into her work further.
It's always nice to hear others view points on poetry and I always welcome discussion. Thanks again.
