In terms of safe guarding your work, most people choose to place a copyright symbol on theirs or simply print their name at the end of it. The site itself though automatically protects the writer, as each poem is individually time stamped. What this really means is that, if another copies your work the site will have a record of when you first posted it, thus proving you were the original author. Sadly, it will happen from time to time, but there are steps you can take to 'safeguard' and a hefty fine for those who get caught. Most will be respectful of your writing though.
