It's nothing
more than anything
and it's everything

This great divide
a bustling city street
I can see your reflection
know you're there
standing silently
simply watching me

We're neither asking of the other
we have our separate lives
this cannot be
more than pages
spent previously
no more to say
our history written
in precious sands
constantly filtering through
incomplete memories
never to be finished

I know that smile
feel it's warmth a thousandfold
still enamored
secret sins burning alive within
but the seal holds true
as your bus rolls in
obscuring all
then you're a parting glimpse
another reminder of the gaps
till we meet again

johnmcvey: This is a super portrayal of the connection between two people over a distance, with a bittersweet, almost melancholy mood, a sense of overpowering, inextinguishable longing and love.
