The 'Likeness'

The ‘Likeness’

What is it
that tiptoes out,
coaxed and romanced,
perhaps seduced
into the glorious light of day?

What is this stirring
down in the gut,
this beautiful ache
stinging in the muscles,
sighing, crying, gasping for the air that men breathe?

What is it,
splashed across the canvas,
dancing and whirling,
singing in praise
bowing in worship, naked and unabashed?

What it is, simply is,
forever undefined,
perpetually expressed,
captured outside of time,
The very breath of God crossing our lips.
