The Burden of Being Aware
As a baby I
was aware of basic needs;
warmth from my swaddling clothe,
security of mother’s arms,
milk from her breast
I was happy with life’s simplicity.
As a child I
noticed the world outside my home;
sneakers, jeans, baseball gloves,
curfew when to come home,
ice cream from Mr. Softy.
I was thrilled to be alive.
As a teenager I
watched those around me:
girlfriends, social groups, becoming popular
freedom from supervision,
movies, popcorn and soda.
I was always wanting more.
As a man I
focused on work, nothing was free,
bank accounts, stocks and bonds,
the world was my playground,
wine, women and restaurants.
I was chasing a dream.
Now, totally aware to life,
knowledge of my existence,
understanding who and what I am
If I had a choice I would go back,
to be totally unaware
with a mouth filled of milk.

sometimes dreams are not what we realised them to be. Good one ron. raskin

do you find
that some parts of the year are harder than others? For me spring is tough I always want to start smoking again in the spring. That's why my garden is important to me. Dark memories are hard. I have a saying to myself from this day forward I can do it different and I do. raskin
Well I think
Jan and Feb are always the most depressing. Holidays are over, my mother got sick and died then , weather is usually the coldest. So yes, this part of the year is the hardest.

~Make Me a Child Again~
Ron,
You have not only mastered the art of writing, you have become a master of living. What could be more beautiful than a baby at Mother's breast? The thought of returning there is a hopeful message. As long as there are Mothers, nurturing beings, you will have your fill dear one. God be with you.
Warmest regards dear poet buddy,
Kathy
Many thanks
Kathy,
I didn't know how good I had it when craddled in her arms. Makes me stop and think how precious life truly is. Thanks very much for your very kind words

Memories
I've remembered so much after reading this write Ron, sometimes you don't want to be aware because it's too painful-it's brilliant the way you captured all those feelings :D ♥
I think of life as a child
from time to time and base it against where I am today. Sometimes ignorance is bliss :) thanks Jewel for reading and commenting

Bliss is under-rated :D anytime Ron ♥
One more thing ...
I have found that it is better to be happy than be right :)
