On the Road to Damascus
Letters in hand
walking the path.
To seek those out
and show his wrath.
“High Priest demands!
My God commands!
Death to all His prophets.”
A liturgical year,
and oh so clear,
till that day
He did appear,
“You persecute
what I revere,
trying to kill my prophets.”
“I’ve heard the call
from prisons hall.
My faithful beat
by him named Saul.
In chains you bind
making them crawl.
No mercy for my prophets”
“To treat them such
you treat me too,
But no more will
I let you do.
This mission ends
and so shall you.
Redemption for my prophets.”
Your sight I take
you will not see,
because these things
you’ve done to me.
Believe and I
will set you free.
Today you are my prophet.”
In slow return
he did go back.
A man with faith
never to lack.
No longer Saul,
now he was Paul
The zealous Hebrew prophet.

how a man can go from one extreme to another.

The only time I look down on another is when I am bending to help them up.
