Forgiveness

It was taught to me when very young
to always turn the cheek.

That when wronged to be understanding
when it was my time to speak.

Who needs a sword of steel
when the tongue can cut you down.

Transgressions to us happen,
anthills can be turned into a mound.

Life is not a liability case,
a courtroom with a judge.

If we always look for blame
our lives become a grudge.

Not dividing fault in actions,
in what was yours
or what was mine.

Just remembering
to err is human,
and to forgive is Divine.

this is

well said expression, good rhythm to it. I like the stanza of a sword of steel. Good illustration of how painful words, inflection, tone can be. The scars they can leave behind. raskin
