Being Lonely
Numbness arrives,
unannounced, unwelcome,
no knock at the door.
On the matte of my expectations it wipes its feet.
Drowning in my sorrows
joy, happiness, serenity scatter,
like splashed droplets
in a hot frying pan.
Color fades to shades of gray.
Light dims to a faint shimmer,
casting shadows of despair
over my eyes.
As a sloth I become motionless,
without intent or direction.
Lost within myself
dead calm drains my sails.
In this overwhelming
emptiness, it is then
that I truly understand
what it feels like to be lonely.

you captured
those feelings very well with this one, ron. It's tough to not swim in them but that's what we have to do is rise up out of them. raskin
Alone
Raskin I don't mind being alone, its being lonely that is hard to get over. I also found I can feel lonely sometimes while in the middle of a crowd. Thanks for re-reading my reposted poems such as this one. I deleted them all awhile ago and now feel I should put them back. the dumb things I do when I am lonely hahahaha
:)

yes, well
you fill the void with your words. Sometimes it is just getting though those moments. Sometimes they can be long moments. I've been trying to work out this rhyme thing so I haven't been posting to much. I have stuff in the works. raskin
I was going to ask
if you had writers block since I haven't seen you post lately. Take you time with the rhyme :)

My mind
was occupied by too many tasks and lovely thoughts were squished. It's all lightening up now and I have some things I've been working on but the thoughts aren't complete yet. I've been working on my garden and now I'm almost done. Thanks for reading my stuff I do appreciate the comments. raskin
Quick suggestion
write your thoughts down as you get them. You can always return to massage them later. I just helped my brother plant his garden. Nothing like fresh vegetables.

alone v lonely
They really are two different things. I think this poem does capture the emptiness of loneliness well; it's very debilitating and can be a vicious cycle. I remember reading this before and am glad to see you repost it.
Reposted it
Hey Neo, I had deleted all my poems ( call me stupid ) and thought I'd get them back. Funny I have always been a bit of a loner and it never bothered me. I love to be around friends and family but there are times now after going thru my divorce that I am both alone and lonely. I get thru it, what' s the recourse right ? Glad you read and commented again :)

You are brilliant! You captured the depth of loneliness. Loneliness is such a rough ride, but thank God - HOPE -likes to keep it company. I hope all is well with one of my favorite poets in the universe!
