I Will Remember

I will remember the cold of the air,
As it tickled my neck raising the hair.
I will remember the heat from the sand,
As I ran hot footed to discover new lands.
I will remember the smell of the trees,
As if they were the most important part of me.

I will remember warm baths and my dear gran,
As she cuddled me close while she sang.
I will remember not being able to sleep,
As the bogeyman rustled around in my dreams.
I will remember chips that tasted so good,
As I scoffed them down greedily like little kids do.

I will remember the undying love,
As my mother would swoop me in her giant hugs.
I will remember the laughter that boomed,
As my dad would makes faces to chase away the gloom.
I will remember my sweet little dog,
As he barked loudly to be taken on walks.

As sunlight does fade each and every day,
So does my body as it continues to age.
But my mind will forever be stuck,
With the heart of a child who never grew up.
