Dark Past, Brighter Future

Ron Kinard (c) 4-2009

with a smiling sun
a new day begins
a new era

lapses of reality
clashing with daily living
make life complete

living with pain
interspersed with pleasure
gives variety

creating a variable
an outlook
awkward to most

living to work
working to live
living for the moment

momentary relapse
a rebuttal of regret
undone chores, untold lies

heart wrenching sorrow
hurting a fellow human being
not being able to apologize

needless words
spoken in anger
too late to repeal

sorrowful actions
repentance is necessity
soulful reprieve

life is too short
friends are too few
sorrow is a burden

things said and done
can not be undone
life goes on

hurting for another
another burden
another day

lost souls seeking
unhindered niche
flocking together

seeking comfort within
reaching out to the flock
safety in numbers

like souls and minds
seeking similar comfort
within a showcase

no one needs rejection
everyone needs acceptance
we all are different

different views
different thoughts
similar needs

sharing the burden
reaching out
acceptance is necessity

forgiven and forgotten
another pain
another day passed

the world revolves another day
life continues another day
the future is our journey

the past is lost
lost friends not forgotten
forgetting the indiscretions

forgive and forget
life goes on
looking ahead, not behind

washing away the past
dust, from the bumpy road of life
to start a new day, a new life

forgiveness is essential
mistakes are made by all
no one is perfect

turning the other cheek
overlooking the indiscretions
releasing the pain

the sorrow is gone
with uplifted heart
the future looks bright

Loved This..

Ron, Loved your take....
I Wish I wasn't so tired but if you allowed for this insomniac to feel comfortable sleeping then that's a good thing. Seriously. TY. I loved it.

My Friend

Life is a journey as you so aptly wrote and it seems it is taking you in the right direction. The past is the past, we really can't change that. My way of looking at life is we only really have today. So for today, your future looks bright, your heart has been lifted, your sorrow is gone. Who's got it better than you ???

:)

The only time I look down on another is when I am bending to help them up.

We have to live with ourselves

No matter what decisions we make, we make our own lives, our own destinies and most of all, our own mistakes. It's how we deal with them after wards is what makes us individuals. We have to ask ourselves "can we live with the decisions we make?" Sometimes we regret what we do or say, but by the time it's said and done it's too late and all you can do is regret it and ask for forgiveness. Just the fact that you regret makes us human, that we have feelings, not just for ourselves but for others as well. I don't like the feeling that I've ever hurt ANYONE, but sometimes when my buttons are pushed I say and do things I shouldn't (as we all have) and regret them after the steam clears. I'm not perfect by any means and can only ask those whom I've hurt to forgive my primitive actions as I've already forgiven theirs. We all make mistakes! I have to live with myself and I want to go to my grave with the piece of mind that I at least tried to make restitution for my actions. Today is a beautiful day and we should all appreciate just being alive, able to come and go as we please and just be happy! Life is too short to dwell on negative things!~ I appreciate the reads and kind comments and wish everyone a beautiful life~Ron

Leaving the past in the past

I really dug the sentiments of your poem; there is much wisdom in it. The older I get, the more I realize how pointless ruminating over mistakes made in the past is and how important today and tomorrow are.

~Paint What You Want~

Ron,

If you have dreams, keep dreaming. The past is your rear view mirror; it helps you see what is in front of you.
What is ahead? The greatness that is inside of you -- is ahead. There is greatness in you! You do not stand alone on the path; we are all there with you. Yes, the simple gestures of poetry keep us fresh and bright. It is a beautiful new day and I am so glad I have your dear soul to connect with. May the peace of this Easter season raise you up. Happy Easter!

Your Poetry Pal,

Kathy Paysen

Couldn't have said it better myself. And I apologize for the argument yesterday.

or how high I weigh in.
I can be as light as a feather,
but I'm damn good with a pen."

No one is perfect

including myself. I am glad that you are able to forgive and forget. To be able to move on as if yesterday never happened must be a wonderful thing. Thanks Ron for being who you are. With at least one of us being able to forget then we may just have a real chance.

PS I am glad to see you and Shea made up. I am assuming no literal kissing was involved. LMAO Shea I have the popcorn, where is my caramel butter?

Total abstinence is so excellent a thing that it cannot be carried to too great an extent. In my passion for it I even carry it so far as to totally abstain from total abstinence itself.

ice cream

I believe in apologizing, only an immature person wouldn't *shrug* I'm sorry Beth if I could I'd hand you some :) Right now I'm enjoying some nice ice cream with strawberry's, chocolate syrup, and whip cream. I did a lot of running today so its my treat to myself :P

forgiven and fogotten

Seems we shared a bad day and a touchy subject and I'm just as much to blame as you. Now how about sharing some of that ice cream...LOL

Now see!

Sure. Your computewr goes down for a couple of weeks, and you miss all the fights!!! It's just not fair!
Well put regrets Ron. Many good points, but here's another one. Living in the day is a good way, but living in the present, (now, where your whole life actually happens,) is a beautiful thing! I no longer let my ego, bruised or joyful-projecting gloom, or hope, run my life. The ego doesn't live in the present. It doesn't know it.
People identify with their ego as "self," to the point where they're actually possessed by it. They think it's who they are.
The present moment, or "now", is a powerful ego buster! Beautiful, and liberating. No anxieties, and no regrets! It is the only place to connect to spirit, (God, Great Spirit, the Great Mystry, Allah, whatever...) You cannot connect to God in the past, and you never will in the future. It can only happen when you're present in the now.
It's sad that so many are waiting. They spend their whole life waiting! Waiting for that time when, "things will get better." They will never be better than NOW. Enough babble.
Thanks again for everything Ron. You're a good guy, and a great writer. (no, I don't need a loan...)

Thank you Tom

It's good to have you back on here, glad you got your computer fixed! You are so right, there is no time like the present to "connect", like a thief in the night we never know when He's coming so it's good to be ready. It takes a big person to realize and admit they are wrong and to admit it. I know I was wrong but I'm hard headed and sometimes try too hard to stand my ground. It's all a matter of principal. Life is too short for hard feelings, especially among friends! I guess I can pull lullaby now that you're back on so they can comment on the lovely piece and you can get all the glory! Thanks again Tom for the comments and support!~Ron
