all things in moderation
Some of the most important things
that have happened in my life
I don’t remember
or at least not clearly
I was too intoxicated
and though I remember (when I remember anything)
the emotions
the feelings we shared
specifics are lost
to the wind
entire portions of my life
are a little foggy
Sometimes I look back
and think maybe that is a good thing
but often
I think of who was there
and how things changed
between us
that night
and wonder
what did I say?
what did I do?
I still have a good time
but
I don’t let myself
go to that place anymore
where things slip away
I have learned my limits
because life
is too short to let moments
disappear
From my book conversations in secret
